I believe the strikes on Venezuela and the capturing of Maduro and his wife by the US is a severe breach of international law.
Whilst Maduro’s regime was illegitimate, corrupt and cruel, this is not the way to pave a better future for the people of Venezuela.
This breaking of the international rules-based system is a dangerous and slippery slope which sets a deeply concerning precedent. It must be condemned.
The government should be strongly urging the United States to work constructively with the interim president and administration in Venezuela to stabilise the situation now. The Venezuelan people must be able to decide their own future.
